Leadership in Security

Professional Security is more than a job; it is a mindset. It is true that the character and willingness to do a job, to the best of their ability, must come from the security officer themselves. The foundation with which to perform this task must come from the company leadership and needs to be observable, positive, and proactive. Leading from the front is but one example of honest, effective leadership. Additional examples of quality leadership include: compassion for staff and clients, respect for self and others, and an appreciation for why staff need good leadership and the ability to deliver this effectively.
The private security field in 2016 is not the same field that existed 5, 10, or 20 years ago. Today the community in which we serve expects more and has a better understanding, and an appreciation, for the work performed by front line security officers. What sets one company apart from the others is the approach used by those officers to perform their duties, day in and day out. If you look into the eyes of a security officer you should be able to recognize those traits that make them so good at what they do, but you will also see a confidence that comes from knowing they are appreciated and supported by company management. And that has made all the difference.
