Some Thankful Reflections from President/CEO Dan Costa

Starting a new business in a marketplace already saturated with standard and substandard
competitors is a daunting task. It involves working each day to build a brand, create your identity,
and achieve recognition for the effort and dedication of the staff who toil every hour in every
day to establish why you are different and how you can provide the level of service so often
missing, but necessary and expected.
As time passes, clients recognize there is a difference in service and commitment, public sector
law enforcement agencies and state and local governmental bodies appreciate the effort put
forth from senior management of the company to front line staff. While good service will
always have a more lasting effect over recognition, positive recognition is always accepted and
appreciated.
In 2017, OPS Security Group was the recipient of two awards, the first was the Soaring 76
sponsored by the Philadelphia Business Journal and the second was the Philadelphia 100
sponsored by the Wharton Small Business Development Center, the Entrepreneurs’ Forum of
Greater Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Media Network. Both awards are built around
company growth, and as a small company creating itself within an already saturated market
these awards have more to do with the efforts of the committed OPS staff who believe in our
mission and work tirelessly to maintain and improve where necessary. These awards are more
for them as another level of validation of the work they do and impact they are making each
day.
As the Thanksgiving season passes, I am reminded of a few things I am thankful for. I am
thankful for the OPS staff who give of themselves each and every day to provide the level of
service our clients expect and deserve. I am thankful for our clients and the continued trust
they place in us to ensure their residents and their brand are protected and respected. I am
thankful for the continued opportunity to build our brand, to employ top quality staff, and to
help to play a positive part in helping to improve the image of an industry who has for so long
been needed, but rarely valued. I am thankful for the organizations who recognized OPS for our
growth within the region. Finally, I am thankful for 2017 and look forward to the challenges and
improvements we will make in 2018 and forward.
